The glazen-eyed, husky voiced singer songwriter has graced memorable tracks for the likes of Flying Lotus, Theo Parrish and Bonobo, and honed her stage presence on tour with Matthew Herbert's Big Band. Now it's time to shine in here own right, sharing the music closest to her heart.
Signed to Ninja Tune, she will release her debut album next May. Produced by Bonobo, the album will be a collection of honest and folksome songs, tales of everyday life that will percolate the airwaves and soundtrack daybreak/sunset gatherings next summer.
She's come so far from the early 'magic box' sessions, maturing in vocal tone, depth of song and image. Mercury Music Prize recognition is a distinct possibility – no joke. And if it does, it couldn't have happened to a nicer lady.
Here is the video for the first single 'Lost Where I Belong', co-written with Fink and scheduled for release on 8 February. It's a proverbial walk in the garden of enchantment, all fluttering butterflies, birds and bright, floral colours. The somnambulant essence of Miss Triana.
The track will also be remixed by fellow Tea Leaf Dancer Flying Lotus.
Directed by Daniel Chester and Dave Prosser, and produced by Sweetworld (www.sweetworld.tv).
